CARL E. VEACH

Carl E. Veach, 59, Oblong, IL passed away on Sunday January 13, 2019 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN.

Carl was born in Robinson, IL on July 6, 1959 and was the son of Harold Leon and Betty Lou (Kirk) Veach. On May 28, 1988 he married Sandra Mae Langston who survives.

Carl was a Corrections Officer at the Robinson Correctional Facility for 25 years, retiring in 2015. He had also served as a part time police officer for the Village of Oblong. He was a member of the Oblong High School Class of 1977, then attended Wabash Valley College and graduated in 1979. Carl was also a member of the First Christian Church in Oblong and the Oblong Antique Tractor and Engine Association. Carl enjoyed tractor pulling, riding motorcycles, was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and NASCAR,  where his favorite drivers were Jeff Gordon and Chase Elliott. He also enjoyed helping Kevin Ferguson farm. Most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Sandra Veach of Oblong, IL; daughter Casandra Veach of Oblong, Il; he helped raise Pam(Chris) Phillips and Alexis Stephenson; a brother and sister-in-law David and Jeannie Veach of Hardinville, IL; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Janie and Michael Chandler of Charleston, IL, Racine Stewart of Toledo, IL, Elmer Langston of Greenup, IL and Troy Langston of Mattoon, IL; mother-in-law Nancy Langston of Charleston, IL; Jared and Ashley Veach of Robinson, IL, Tiffany Veach of Vincennes, IN and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Carl in death were his parents and father-in-law,  Curly Langston.

A Celebration of Carl’s Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday January 18, 2019 at the First Christian Church, 206 North Range St Oblong, IL with Bro. Dee Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery next to his parents. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday January 17, 2019 at the church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers an expression of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to the Carl E. Veach Memorial Fund C/O Pulliam Funeral Home. Envelopes will be available at the church or may be mailed to Pulliam Funeral Home P.O. Box 121 Oblong, IL 62449
